                                     CLASSMATE’S POST
The reading this week’s focus was on planning how to teach specifically on providing explanations. The book describes explanations as what the teachers say about information to be learned. “A thorough and easy-to-follow explanation has a strong positive effect on learning. As a teacher, you will be explaining facts, ideas, rules, strategies, processes, concepts, principles, and so on. You will use explanations as part of almost all activities and lessons”.  To explain thing correctly we need to be able to show and use descriptions, definitions, and examples. There is a way to be clear as we communicate and explain concepts and ideas to our audience. The author also gives us a great image of giving demonstrations as a mode of giving demonstrations. In my opinion I think this is one of the most effective methods in which to teach. Not only are you communicating verbally but you are demonstrating the concept that can help the student learn. By doing it this way our students can receive on the job training of that subject.  The author mentions that teaching this way will give the students an accurate picture of learning the task. The author also brings up the fact that learning academic vocabulary for the teacher and the student will increase the learning process. This process includes defining words, understanding multiple definitions, providing context and more! All these ways will make providing explanations more clearly defined. Our students and teachers will be able to grow in knowledge and vocabulary as we learn work on presenting and giving correct explanations.

                                                  CLASSMATE’S POST
In chapter 5 the title “Rule Breakers” is everything you think is not related to school. On the first day of school you go over the classroom rules, the school rules and rules for the other classes you may and they could all be different but you are encouraged to obey them or suffer the consequences if you do not. “Know the rules well so you can break them effectively” The Dalai Lama this quote explains a great deal. Rules are put into place for a reason like to protect you and others. Learning to comply with the rules as children helps you to follow the laws as adults. Forming habits whether they are good or bad but knowing that consequences following your actions of those habits are up to you.
In today’s workforce you must be able to adapt to change with the ever change labor laws (rules). When people and refuse to accept the “status quo” (the current situations) and want to go out on their own could have issues. The example that was used about loading Chrome or Firefox on your computer or just using the default that was already loaded because it will be quicker and easy may not always give a great end result. Be creative when dreaming the dream to building a better way of doing thing even in education. Everyone is different but being a help to others is universal and when being an effective leader you are tasked with helping many others to becoming productive citizens of society. To one-day look back over someone who had succeeded and knowing you had a part in it is a great feeling of accomplishment. Support others who are known rule breakers, help build their confidence is planning and teaching, it takes the entire staff working together to get something new and successful. Leaders, teachers and students are all able to learn in when they teaching, looking, listening and becoming involved.
